Our intention with this project is highlighting that excessive vehicle speeds aren't the fault of reckless drivers, but rather the inherent design of the street itself. Wide lanes, minimal curves, and abundant visibility all play to drivers' "perceived risk," causing them to travel at the speed they feel comfortable instead of the posted limit. We hope to illustrate that better design makes safer streets that are more pleasant to residents and better foster neighborhood community.
